Southeastern Regional Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residents
Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine is the sponsoring institution for academics at Southeastern Regional Medical Center (SERMC). This EM residency is built on providing care to rural and underserved communities. This program requires the PGY-3 residents to perform one pediatric emergency rotation. WEPPA has been partnered with SERMC since 2021 to provide access to a dedicated Children’s ED rotation.
DO Students OMED 850
The Emergency Medicine rotation is hospital-based and focuses on student participation in delivering emergency care to a diverse population of patients and managing major and minor emergencies. Experiences include the triage, diagnosis, management, and appropriate care of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Students will develop skills for assessing and managing life-threatening and urgent conditions. They will gain experience performing an initial patient evaluation under physician supervision and establishing an appropriate care plan. Students will learn cardiac life support, airway management, and critical emergency procedures. Students must participate in teaching rounds, educational conferences, and lectures.
WEPPA hosts these students in six area hospitals: WakeMed Raleigh and Cary, both UNC-Johnston sites, UNC Nash, and UNC Wayne.
