WEPPA Physician Participates in Statewide Healthcare Advocacy Efforts
Wake Emergency Physicians, PA (WEPPA) physician Dr. Austin Lucke recently joined North Carolina leaders and healthcare stakeholders at the signing of the state’s Medicaid funding legislation alongside Governor Josh Stein, reflecting the important role physicians play in shaping conversations around healthcare access and policy across North Carolina. As an emergency medicine physician, Dr. Lucke sees firsthand how healthcare policy decisions directly impact patients, providers, and communities.
In addition to attending the recent Medicaid funding bill signing, Dr. Lucke was also featured in a statement released by the North Carolina Department of Justice regarding the state’s EpiPen settlement, which will return millions in refunds to Medicaid and the State Health Plan. The settlement focused on helping recover funds tied to the rising costs of life-saving medications and ensuring greater accountability within the healthcare system.
“Emergency physicians are on the front lines of healthcare every day, witnessing the impact of inequities in access and resources,” said Dr. Lucke. “Advocating to improve patient healthcare access and infrastructure is incredibly important for all the communities in North Carolina, particularly the most vulnerable populations.”
WEPPA is proud to support physicians who not only deliver exceptional care in the emergency department, but also contribute their voices and expertise to meaningful healthcare discussions across North Carolina.
